Investigating and assessing sweet potato varieties with high quality and suitable to eco condition in Vinh Phuc. Study several planting methods to complete cultivation technique for new variety sweet potato with high capacity and quality in Vinh Phuc. Training and guiding for farmer about planting and taking care process, harvest process; and post harvesting preservation process.
In 2012, started pilot planting five potato varieties which were: KLC3, KLC5, VC04-24, VX682 and Hoang Long. After 2 years of experiment planting, has chosen 2 sweet potato varieties with high quality, that are: KLC3 with capacity of 23,6 ton/ha, in which the ratio of dried flesh is 30,5%, the ratio of starch is 20,9%. This sweet potato variety is sweeter than Hoang Long variety; VC682 with capacity of 21,5 ton/ha, in which the ratio of dried flesh is 29,1%, the ratio of starch is 19,0%. This sweet potato variety is sweeter than Hoang Long variety;
Building one general cultivation technique for planting sweet potato: Choose slip with length of 30-35 cm, each slip has 5-7 sprouts. Planting in winter crop is from 15-25 Sep; in spring crop is from 20 Jan to 10 Feb. Sweet potatoes need loose, well-drained soil to form large tubers. Plant each sweet potato slip deep enough in the ridge so that only the top set of leaves is above soil level.
After 2 years had organized 12 training courses about guiding planting techniques, looking after, post harvesting preservation process. The participants were offered documents, directly guided or guided through images that were easy to understand.
Had chose two new sweet potato varieties that are: KLC3 and VC682 having high capacity.
Had built technique procedure for planting new sweet potato variety suitable with ecology condition in Vinh Phuc
Organised 12 training courses for farmers
The provincial people’s committee and Department of Agriculture and Rural Developme should have plan to expand two new sweet potato varieties and apply technique procedure in reality.
